Lockdown Hobbies: #2 Dinner at Nan’s

9 Cornetto’s out of 10

Does everyone else’s Grandmother’s say things like “oh I don’t know anything about cooking” and then whip up the most amazing meals you’ve ever tasted? They’ll say the secret ingredient is love, but really it’s copious amounts of salt and butter.

My partner and I have a weekly date night with my Nan. Now that we live in the same town, it’s wonderful being able to spend so much time with her. She fills us in each week on the local gossip, we eat, we make fun of the poor decisions made on Bargain Hunt, we eat again, gossip again, then watch Hard Quiz, and as we leave, she tries to send us home with more food. It’s my favourite night of the week.

If you’re ever dropping by my Nan’s place, make sure to get the chicken curry. *drooling face*. She reckons it is the easiest thing to make, but something that good can’t be so easy.

For dessert once she pulled out some Cornetto’s. We didn’t know this at the time, but that moment would spark a (still) ongoing obsession, which not only affects my partner and myself, but also Mum and Dad, and my sister and her husband. If you go to Woolies and you see Cornetto’s on special, don’t do it. The months of late night trips to the store is not worth the 40% savings at that moment.

Nan lost a point because she is ruining my weight loss.
